Recipe Testing and Methodology
Last updated: October 12, 2026
We want you to know exactly where each recipe stands. This page explains our testing labels and the testing process we follow.
What the testing labels mean
- Not yet kitchen-tested
- The recipe is written from established techniques and has been reviewed for accuracy, but our team hasn’t yet cooked it from the published instructions. All current recipes have this status.
- Kitchen-tested
- Our team cooked the recipe from the published instructions, checked the timing and yield, and adjusted the text based on the results.
Our testing process
This is the process a recipe goes through before we mark it as kitchen-tested.
- Cook from the written recipe. We follow the published text exactly, using standard home equipment.
- Check measurements and timing. We confirm that quantities are correct and that the stated times and doneness cues match what actually happens.
- Check the yield. We confirm the number of servings or pieces.
- Revise unclear steps. Anything confusing or inaccurate gets rewritten.
- Photograph the real dish. Placeholder images are replaced with photos of the recipe as made.
- Update the page. We change the label and update the “Updated” date.
Nutrition information
We don’t currently publish nutrition facts. If we add them, we’ll calculate them with a documented method, label them clearly as estimates, and explain how they were calculated.
Help us improve
If you cook one of our recipes, we’d love to hear how it went, especially if something didn’t work as described. Send us your feedback.
